God's Creatures

We found a fascinating spider today. It was so beautiful, that it almost looked unreal. The back of the spider was gold and silver. It shimmered in the light. The translucent legs were bands of black and tan. It is always fun to find God's magnificent creatures so close to home. We usually get the simple brown spiders and an occasional black widow. To see such an unusual spider was really cool. Savanna and I drew the spider and Charles observed it with a magnifying glass. We caught it in a jar to show Mike when he gets home. We'll let him out later today. It took us some time, but we finally identified it on the internet. We discovered that it is a banded garden spider. Take a look:
