Holy Toledo

Today took us to a daytrip to Toledo, Spain. We left Guadalajara in the morning and took a bus ride to Toledo.

Here we are, arriving at the entrance of the walled city. It was all uphill climb from the bus station.

Approaching the old city of Toledo. Here you can see the old city walls. Within these walls Christians, Jews and Muslims coexist. Every corner you turn, another church appears. We were wondering if that is where the exclamation "Holy Toledo" came from.

Funny thing, I never saw the front of this Cathedral.

We accidentaly stumbled upon a group from Kansas (with Archbishop Joseph Naumann) and were invited to celebrate Sunday Mass with them. We were ushered into a large side chapel within the Cathedral. That was truly a blessing. Ask me about the story that goes with this. It was truly providential.

Inside the Cathedral. This is the main altar. The interior of the church was incredible! There was so much to see. We spent about two hours looking and didn't get to see everything. We saw some pieces by El Greco and many other artists. The church itself is a piece of art.

I am still amazed at what you find on the street corners in Europe.
